reasons to wear a kilt part II

I just came across this from http://www.skilt.co.uk/index.htm
Reasons to wear a kilt
No need to unzip a kilt in the bathroom (think 'There's Something About Mary'!)
When you walk the dog, you can go too!
Kilt checks!
S_kilts have roomy pockets that do not move when your legs do
Because you can answer the question 'What are you wearing under your kilt?' with the answer 'Lipstick'
Because you can answer the question 'What are you wearing under your kilt?' with the answer 'Shoes and socks'
Because you can answer the question 'What are you wearing under your kilt?' with the answer 'Nothing, it's all good as new'
Because you can answer the question 'What are you wearing under your kilt?' with the question 'Just how much do you want to know?'
Women check out men in kilts
Gay men check out men in kilts (even if it's not your bag a complement is a complement)
Straight men check out men in kilts and admire you for having the balls to wear one
It's better to run away with your kilt up than get caught with your pants down!
As Braveheart says: 'Freedom!'
It would be selfish to keep those calves to yourself
Women are attracted to confidence and it takes confidence to wear a kilt
Kilts are great to dance in: plenty of ball room!
Kilts make people wonder

I always get a kick out of the lists.
My wife more or less challenged me to wear my kilt bolwong on Monday nites.
I may need some support for this.
I'll let you know next week.

the birthday party

We had a surprise birthday party for my M-I-L
Yes there was an element of surprise involved.
My wife, Lisa and her sister, Toni, did an excellent job of putting it all together.
I wore my tartan "frugal Corner" kilt.
It was a mjaor hit.
Most people wanted to know if I played the bagpipes!
I asked if they would like to see my chanter!
What are you wearing under the kilt?
Boots & Socks.
It was my first timeout without any pockets.
Sounds strange but if you don't wear a kilt, you wouldn't know.
I wore my sporran on hangers rather than a belt.
I think that I prefer the look for now.
It's more comfortable.
Next weekend should be cooler and I can get out my Black on black Stillwater Kilt.
It is heavy and nice piece of work.
No pockets.
For a guy who has always had a hand in a pocket, it's a big change.
Sporran is a big lifestyle change.
I found a leather shop that makes a"wallet" to fit in a sporran.
easier access in and out.

It looks like very nice work.
More  later.
It's been a very long day.

Frugal Kilt

I spent a little bit of money on a "Frugal Corner" kilt.
I think it is worth what I paid.
You get what you pay for!
Straps and buckles are not near the best.
It's  a good looking kilt w/ a poly tartan print.
I will see how it holds up.
Surprise birthday party for Lisa's mom tomorrow.
I'll probably wear my "Frugal" kilt.
I like the hiking boot look adn will probably go with it.
Pictures when they become available.

New Kilt

I purchased a new kilt today the Frugal Corner.
It was a frugal, inexpensive purchase.
I thought, what do i have to lose.
I should have it by weeks end and I will see then.
Hopefully it will be worth the investment.
It's a knock around tartan.
I currently have:
1) Utilikilt- I really like this one. Very casual. Very comfortable and it has cargo pockets (for storage, not hands).
2) Amerikilt- This is okay, along the lines of a "Dockers" kilt. Comes w/ matching fabric sporran & hip pocket.
3) Stillwater Heavy wool kilt/ black on black. I just received it this past weekend and haven't had a chance to wear it. It is HEAVY wool. Waiting for the temperature to drop a little bit!
4) USA Kilt- due in mid-October. Made to order Spirt of Scotland tartan. I am looking forward to this one. Wearing it to my cousins daughters wedding.
5) Frugal Corner-synthetic off the rack tartan- due end of this week.

First entry

I first mentioned a blog  to a co-worker a few tears back.
He said, what's a blog.
I'm still not sure but I am here.
.......starting...........
it was my wife's recommendation.
I have gotten into kilts over the past 6 months.
I've had two kilts for the past 2 years. I rarely wore them.
I wore one once out for lunch with my daughter.
Some people think that I might be a little crazy but who isn't.
I now have three kilts and one more on the way.
When William Wallace gave his famous "Freedom" speech in Braveheart, no one realized that he was talking about wearing a kilt!
I get a lot of looks and I get a few comments.
I think some people are afraid to acknowledge the kilt. That's okay.
It's an interesting feeling, wearing a kilt. Not just physically but mentally as well.
I am coming to realize that slowly.
I try to not be too analytical in life.
Things change.
